The Design
“Big, festive fun!”
We took our original Basic Christmas Stocking and gave it a big, colorful makeover! We’ve created a free adaptation for hand-knit stockings in a chunky-weight yarn—more space to stuff full of little gifts and treats—and then took it to another level with stranded colorwork. The two-color, one-by-one repeat is nice and easy and produces a fun, checker-like pattern for the foot and length of the stocking. A contrasting cuff, heel, and toe is an extra jolly touch!
We chose three colors of Rowan for a big, cheery, quick-to-knit Basic Christmas Stocking. This woolly mammoth of a yarn makes straightforward stitch patterns really pop! Spun from 100% merino wool, Big Wool is an easy-to-work-with softy—so your stockings will be finished in a jiff! And with lots of great colors, you’ll have a blast playing with festive combos.
